Far-sightedness, also known as hyperopia, is a condition of the eye where light focuses behind, instead of on, the retina. This causes close objects to be blurry while far objects may appear normal. As the disease worsens objects at all distances may be blurry. Other symptoms may include headaches and eye strain.
The cause is an imperfection in the eye (often when the eyeball is too short or the lens cannot become round enough), causing the eye to not have enough power to see close or nearby objects. It is a type of refractive error which can be easily repaired by our best Hyperopia Surgeon in Bagdogra.
Many very young children are hyperopic because they have small eyeball, but their hyperopia decreases as their eyeball grows larger with time.
In adults hyperopia usually occurs after the age of 40 years. It can worsen as the person gets older.
Correction is usually achieved by use of spectacles or contact lenses. For near objects, the eye has to accommodate even more. Depending on the amount of hyperopia and the age of the person which directly relates to the eye’s accommodative ability, the symptoms can be different.
Other permanent ways to treat hyperopia include refractive surgery options such as LASIK, Epi-LASIK and implantable contact lenses (ICL). This surgery is best performed at our Hyperopia Surgery Hospital in Bagdogra which is performed by our highly skilled surgeon.
